Objects

  • ISOdate ISOdate outputs the current date as a symbol in ISO format.
  • ISOtime ISOtime outputs the current time as a symbol in ISO format.
  • ascii2int ascii2int converts a stream of ASCII digit values into a single integer value.
  • autoscale autoscale scales a stream of numbers to an output range, with examples using ranges such as 0–1 and −0.01–0.01.
  • blocksize_in_ms blocksize_in_ms outputs the current block size in milliseconds rather than samples.
  • ce_path ce_path reports canvas-local paths, outputting the next path as a symbol each time it receives a bang.
  • classpath classpath reports the paths in Pd’s global classpath, outputting each path as a symbol.
  • colorpanel colorpanel is a graphical color chooser that opens a color picker and outputs the selected color as a list of red, green, and blue values.
  • cursor cursor sets the mouse cursor used for a Pd patch, with choices such as arrow, clock, and coffee_mug.
  • debounce debounce is a control filter for debouncing incoming events, and this help patch states that it currently handles floats and bangs.
  • debug debug is a simple control object for managing the flow of print messages, useful for testing.
  • embed embed hides the Pd window when creating an embedded application.
  • file_type file_type finds the file type of a file specified by a symbol path.
  • float2ascii float2ascii converts an input float to an ASCII symbol for control-rate conversion.
  • folder_list folder_list outputs a listing of files that match a wildcard pattern, defaulting to the directory from which Pd was launched when no argument is supplied.
  • get-audio-dialog get-audio-dialog retrieves the Audio Settings so they can be saved as part of a patch.
  • get-midi-dialog get-midi-dialog retrieves Pd’s MIDI settings so they can be saved as part of a patch.
  • gid2group_name gid2group_name converts a UID to a username and outputs the result as a symbol.
  • group_name2gid group_name2gid converts a filesystem group name to its numeric GID.
  • helppath helppath outputs each path in Pd’s global classpath as a symbol.
  • hostname hostname gets the hostname of the machine.
  • ifeel ifeel controls the pulse of an iFeel mouse, with the device path supplied as an argument (for example, /dev/input/ifeel0).
  • make-audio-dialog make-audio-dialog takes the audio-dialog message produced by get-audio-dialog.
  • mouse_region mouse_region outputs mouse coordinates as a list only after the user clicks, for use with control-rate user input.
  • noquit noquit overrides quitting Pd, making it useful for installations and performances where normal quitting should be disabled.
  • passwd passwd fetches filesystem password-database information for a user specified by UID or symbolic username, outputting fields such as username, UID, GID, home folder, and shell.
  • pointer_position pointer_position gets the pointer’s current x and y location in a Pd canvas.
  • pwm pwm performs pulse-width modulation at message rate, providing a control-rate PWM signal from two float inlets to one float outlet.
  • pwm~ pwm~ generates pulse-width modulation at audio rate and outputs a signal.
  • screensize screensize reports the current screen resolution for control use.
  • setenv setenv sets system environment variables and outputs a symbol.
  • split_my_msgs split_my_msgs splits a stream of incoming messages between two outlets, serving as a control-message filter.
  • split_path split_path splits an input path symbol into a path and a filename, outputting each as a symbol.
  • sql_query sql_query represents an SQL query and supports query text containing ? placeholders, as shown by the INSERT example.
  • stat stat gets information about files, including metadata such as size, ownership, allocation, links, and access/modification/status-change timestamps, without changing the file.
  • tcl_version tcl_version reports the current Tcl/Tk version.
  • tkconsole tkconsole toggles the visibility of the Tcl/Tk Wish Shell on which Pd’s GUI is built.
  • uid2username uid2username converts a numeric user ID (UID) received as a float into a username symbol.
  • uname uname retrieves uname system information when it receives a bang.
  • unsetenv unsetenv removes an environment variable, making it useful for clearing environment settings.
  • username2uid username2uid converts a username symbol to its numeric UID, supporting filesystem-related control tasks.
  • version version reports the version of the currently running Pd.
  • window_name window_name outputs a symbol naming a Pd patch window, for use when addressing that window through GUI commands such as sys_gui.
