¿Música? 22
Sounds That
Seep Through
¿Música? is a series of performances that has been held since 2005. The works presented explore the uncertain territories between music and sound art, critical experimentation with production technologies, the integration of visual, gestural, and sonic elements, improvisational techniques, and the occupation of performance spaces.
Promoted and organized by the Sonology Research Center (NuSom) of the Department of Music at the School of Communications and Arts, University of São Paulo (ECA-USP), ¿Música? 22 seeks this year to occupy more and different spaces throughout the city of São Paulo, leaking beyond and expanding its customary meanings and commonplaces.
The theme chosen for this edition takes as its point of departure Rodolfo Caesar's (2020) proposition of sound as a carrier of things that leak. The spatialities that emerge by intention or accident. The things that resonate and unfold through these operations. The trembling of rigid things. The dimension present in the atmosphere. The invisible density that is inevitably deposited upon the things of the world.
For this curatorial project, leakage is not understood as loss or disappearance, but rather as a point of perception and a potential opening: a provocation of meaning that leads us to reconsider our relationship with equipment, media, representations, and our own bodies, drawing attention to limits, filters, and to that which flows, unfolds, and passes through. We believe that these operations contain creative forces and other modes of listening, perhaps even utopian ones.
The proposed theme will unfold across three distinct days and programs, to be announced following the selection of the works.
